Harrach Peloton

Wilhelm Kralik was the Administrator of the Harrach glassworks in Neuwelt, Bohemia. Youíll also recognize this name as the owner of the Myerís Neffe glassworks, but it wasnít him, the dates arenít right.

Wilhelm Kralik, while the Administrator of the Harrach glass works, was granted a British patent on October 25, 1880 for a method of "ornamenting glass articles".*Interestingly youíll notice that the patent was on behalf of C.N. Blumberg, who was a major importer and London reseller of Harrach glass.

The reason this little fact is important is that people believe Peloton was made by the Kralik firm. A year later this Wilhelm Kralik left Harrach to act as the administrator of the Kralik factory, so itís very possible they too produced Peloton glass at some capacity.

The characteristic of Peloton glass is short filaments of colored glass imbedded in the hot gather of glass.
